They simply don't make 'em like this anymore. Five generations of my family have enjoyed The Hemlock Inn over the last fifty three years. So what makes this 65 acre retreat so special? For starters, the Inn has clean, cozy rooms, each tastefully decorated with its own unique furniture. Or you may choose to stay in one of their comfortable wooded cabins. And you will absolutely love their incredible southern meals served family style at large round tables (breakfast and dinner, by the way, are included in the very reasonable room rates). Oh, and don't forget to buy one of their cookbooks with many of their traditional family recipes...except for their apple chips recipe which unfortunately will always remain a family secret. And you'll find that the amazing mountaintop views are even more spectacular when viewed from one of their numerous rocking chairs. Indeed, finding relaxation is not a problem. The Inn has its own well maintained hiking trails or you can take a 15 minute ride to the Deep Creek recreation area in the Smoky Mountain National Park for water falls, tubing, fishing; etc. The Inn has a game pavilion, gift shop, and a well stocked library with the facility's only TV. Located just a few minutes from one of North Carolina's most charming and fun mountain towns, Bryson City, the Inn is a great family headquarters for one of the State's premier pre-christmas events, the Polar Express train ride. But unquestionably, what makes the Hemlock Inn so distinctive are the wonderful owners, the Shell's and the White's, who have devoted so much of their lives sharing their talents and gifts with both old and new friends. Mort and Lainey are truly genuine folks who delight in providing their customer's with an unforgettable mountaintop experience. Give them a call. You'll be glad that you did.

Wholesome, peaceful, a trip back in time when life was simple, friends were like family and the food was homemade! Best place this side of Heaven to come and rest and relax! So much to do in nearby Bryson City NC which is gateway to the Smoky Mountains. Hiking, ice cream shops, scenic drives, shopping, music and Darnell Farms nearby. Staff at Hemlock Inn can direct you to your next adventure. Make it a family tradition and you will not regret the memories made in the mountains of Western North Carolina where life is a little sweeter!

This is an amazing place to stay. The owner is very easy to talk to and seems to enjoy having guests. The food is awesome. The view from the front porch is beautiful, especially in the morning when the fog begins to lift from the mountains. My wife and I plan to visit again.

A few weeks ago we stayed at Hemlock Inn for the first time and it was a lovely stay! The views are incredible and this bed & breakfast took us back to a simpler time where you can be present with your loved ones. Cozy up next to the fireplace, dive into a good book on a rocking chair, grab a board game to play with your spouse or kids, or just take a little nap while you listen to the rain showers. I highly recommend a stay here if you’d like a weekend retreat in the mountains of Western North Carolina and quality time with family and friends. Hemlock Inn is conveniently located a short drive from downtown Bryson City and the Cherokee side of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Hemlock Inn is a nice little place in the woods with quaint rooms, limited technology, and good Southern food. I loved that they rang a dinner bell and had a blessing before each meal, served family style. We traveled with our 1 year old and I was glad I packed some of his favorite foods from home to bring with us (we as moms know our little ones can be picky). Hemlock Inn will gladly provide you with ice to keep items cold and some rooms even have a small refrigerator. The staff here at Hemlock Inn are so attentive and welcoming. Mort and the entire team truly embody Christian hospitality which is a breath of fresh air. We enjoyed everything about our stay at Hemlock Inn and will return!

The food is absolutely incredible - true, delicious home cooking served with love. It's a perfect place to unwind and enjoy family and friends. I highly recommend visiting if you're looking for a unique and memorable mountain experience.

We had a family reunion at Hemlock Inn with 26 adults and 7 children. It was a perfect place for a reunion and the setting is beautiful. The owner accommodated us in EVERY way. Food was delicious, with plenty of it. If you want to go to a peaceful place where you can relax, this is it. The location is great for many other activities.

The perfect getaway to truly unplug, enjoy nature and each other!! Hemlock Inn served as the perfect 'home base' for a beautiful getaway for my husband and me along with another couple. They're situated ideally in Bryson City which is a gateway to the Smoky Mountains and easy access to downtown near the Railway (which is a must do - we went both directions!). We found plenty of opportunities in the area for hiking and enjoying the outdoors - especially relaxing on the Hemlock's deck in rocking chairs - as well as vacation treats like ice cream shops, scenic drives, shopping and music. Save your appetite because the breakfast and dinner meals provided in our stay were outstanding. While we are planning to make it a Fall tradition, every season is spectacular in the mountains of Western North Carolina. It will be fun to see Bryson City at Christmas for the Polar Express and Spring is magical, too. Can't wait to find another moment to breathe in the good life and enjoy this beautiful creation at the Hemlock!
